NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique), BioSet (Bioenergetic Sensitivity and Enzyme Therapy) and similar types of treatments are completely non-invasive methods for treating and eliminating allergies. They are based on a similar foundation as acupuncture and acupressure. In these lines of thought, health is determined by Qi (chi), the force of energy in the body (to put it in unjustly simple terms). This energy moves along meridians (pathways) in the body, but there can be blockages that slow or stop the energy. Energy must move throughout the body or problems will result. In way too simplistic of terms, acupuncture and acupressure seeks to release/remove the blockages allowing the energy to flow as it should, restoring health.
HOW DOES NAET/BioSET WORK?
NAET, BioSET and other similar methods, are based on electromagnetic fields in addition to the above explanation. A practitioner muscle tests a person for foods, weeds, grasses, etc that they may be sensitivities or allergic to. They do this by testing the strength of the person’s arm muscles while touching the potential allergen. Each potential allergen is tested individually. Then, based on what sensitivities/allergies are found, an order for treating them is determined. The actual treatment consists of pushing/massaging points along either side of the spine several times with different breathing patterns each time and then massaging acupressure points on the hands, arms, legs and feet in a particular order. Then the person rests or relaxes for around 30 minutes. All this while in contact with the allergen or a glass vial charged to the same electromagnetic charge as the allergen. This changes the adverse electromagnetic charge of the allergen to match with the person’s charge, rendering the person no longer adversely affected by the allergen. With NAET, the allergen must be avoided for a period of 25 hours after the treatment for it to be effective. With BioSET no time period of avoidance is necessary (or only a few hours at most). The next appointment, the practitioner usually checks to see if the allergen last treated has “cleared”.
MY THOUGHTS ON NAET/BioSET
We did NAET/BioSET treatments for 5 months. The effectiveness definitely depends on the skill and knowledge of the practitioner. We tried one practitioner who was completely unsuccessful before trying a different one who was fabulous.
I completely credit these treatments for the fact that Jordan went from being allergic to every food except a plain sweet potato, to (progressively as we went through treatments) being able to eat nearly all fruits, vegetables, beans, meats, rice, and nuts. Of critical importance, it stopped the reaction in his body where he developed new allergies to everything he ate. Before these treatments, he would eat a food once and be okay. The second time he ate that food, he would react, often violently. After starting these treatments any new foods he ate, that he had never eaten before, he didn’t react to.
As beneficial as these treatments were for Jordan, I also noticed that by 18 months of age, he had lost most of the speech that he had gained by 15 months and he was not adding anything new. So, although he wasn’t having physical reactions to food, there was something else going on. Either, he was reacting to food that hadn’t shown up in the testing or something else was going on in his body at a deeper level, or both.
Although I believe NAET and BioSET type treatments have their place and can be very helpful in some cases and in simple cases of just a couple of allergens. I believe in complex cases like ours, it served only as a bridge. It gave him foods he could eat until we determined what other health issues he had and could work to treat those. And, critically, it stopped his body from developing an allergy to every new food he ate.
HOWEVER, it was not the end all treatment that healed or fixed everything. As I probed deeper (on my own – no doctors or practitioners that we had been to recognized any underlying things going on with him), I discovered he had some very serious underlying health issues that played a huge part of why he developed allergies in the first place, such as his yeast overgrowth, leaky gut, toxicity, and heavy metal toxicity. So, although these treatments can be great on their own in some cases, in other cases they can provide temporary (and very necessary) help while finding and working to treat the health issues which actually caused the allergy reactions to develop in the first place.
